In this course students become acquainted with the basic concepts and techniques of eukaryotic genetics and human classical and molecular genetics and genomics. |
Full description: |
DNA as the genetic material, foundations of classical genetics, human genetics, genetic engineering, types of nucleotide sequences, genomics, evolution of nucleotide sequences, chromatin, DNA replication, mutagenesis and DNA repair, transcription, gene regulation, epigenetic mechanisms, RNA splicing and editing, small regulatory RNAs, translation, protein maturation (folding, posttranslational modifications), protein sorting, protein degradation (ubiquitination,, proteasome, autophagy, N-terminal rule). Human traits: mendelian and multifactorial, genetic diseases: monogenic and complex, chromosomal aberrations, heritability, cancer genetics, archaeogenomics. |
