- Klein-Gordon equation - Dirac equation - Solutions of Dirac equation; free particle and hydrogen-like atom - Canonical quantisation of a scalar field - Canonical quantisation of a spinor field - Formalism of path integrals - S matrix and perturbation theory - Feynman diagrams - Calculation of decay widths and cross-sections in the lowest order of perturbation theory -- time permitting - loop calculations |

Learning outcomes: |
The student understands the foundations of relativistic quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. The student can perform simple calculations, using methods of solving Dirac equation. The student can calculate simple decay widths and cross-sections, using the formalism of quantum field theory in the lowest order of perturbation theory. The student is ready for self-education in relativistic quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
(in Polish) Uczęszczanie na wykład i ćwiczenia jest zalecane, acz nieobowiązkowe. W trakcie semestru odbędzie się jedno kolokwium, a w trakcie sesji egzaminacyjnej - egzamin pisemny i ustny. Do egzaminu pisemnego mogą przystąpić wszyscy studenci. Do egzaminu ustnego mogą przystąpić studenci spełniający co najmniej jedno z następujących kryteriów: (i) uzyskali co najmniej 50% punktów z kolokiwum, (ii) uzyskali co najmniej 50% punktów z łącznej liczby punktów możliwych do uzyskania podczas kolokwium i egzaminu pisemnego. Lista zagadnień na egzamin ustny zostanie podana z około miesięcznym wyprzedzeniem w zależności od materiału zrealizowanego na zajęciach. |
