Założenia (opisowo): | A course in basic trial advocacy in criminal cases, adapted first of all for foreign students, the Polish ones were also welcome. Its objectives are to introduce students to: - basic effective and general advocacy techniques (while specific Polish rules of evidence and procedure will be de-emphasized) - basics of presentation in Court, examination of witnesses, expert witnesses, the suspect as well - dealing with real and documentary evidence |

A course in basic trial advocacy in criminal cases, adapted first of all for foreign students, the Polish ones were also welcome. Its objectives are to introduce students to: - basic effective and general advocacy techniques (while specific Polish rules of evidence and procedure will be de-emphasized) - basics of presentation in Court, examination of witnesses, expert witnesses, the suspect as well - dealing with real and documentary evidence |

1. Rules of the class. Assignation of cases and tasks. 2. Introduction to Preparatory Proceedings 3. Preparation of the suspect 4. Conductiong with witnesses, potential witnesses and other sources of evidence. 5. Preparatory Proceedings: detention and arrest of the suspect 6. Preparatory Proceedings: examination of the suspect 7. Preparatory proceedings: termination of the preparatory proceeding and indictment 8. Introduction to the Trial 9. Agreements vs. plea bargaining 10. The Trial: examination of the suspect 11. The trial: adaptation of rules of direct, cross-examination as well in the civil law system 12. The trial: examination of witnesses 13. The trial: examination of expert witnesses 14. The trial: closing argument 15. Final class. Feedback. |

Any available book, e.g. Modern Trial Advocacy: Analysis and Practice, Steven Lubet Trials: Strategy, Skills, And the New Powers of Persuasion, Thomas A. Mauet Cases and other materials will be given. |
Efekty uczenia się: |
Students will get real experience in standing, questioning, persuading in court as well. They will get also basic knowledge about trial techniques and strategies. |
