ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The subject to be discussed refers to principles of environmental policy and law from the international law system perspective. The substantial scope of the subject concerns mainly international environmental law with emphasis given to the Multirateral Environmental Agreements and their implementation on regional and domestic law levels.

Learning outcomes:

After completion of the course the student will know:

- the elements of system of international environmental policy and law including international actors and stake holders in this domaine;

- the basis for decision-making;

- the procedures of environemtal law-making;

- how to implement the international environmental law into the national legal systems of the member states;

- what are legal requirements and implementing measures;

- common legal principles of environmental law;

- how to examine the international courts decissions pertaining to environmental law.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Attendance list and assessment of the level of preparation for each class. This constitutes 50 % of a final note. The remaining 50% is the note for the individual level of presentation.
