Short description: |
The right to privacy and the protection of personal data are civic rights recognized in many international and Polish legal acts, such as the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Privacy protection is one of the goals enshrined in the Digital Agenda for Europe. It is treated as a condition for building consumer confidence in e-services within the Single Digital Market. The basic EU legal act regulating the protection of personal data is the general regulation on personal data protection (GDPR). In Poland, there are also a number of sectoral regulations that regulate the processing of personal data. |

During the course the following issues are discussed: - Threats resulting from the processing of personal data using new technologies (identity theft, profiling, property damage, discrimination), -History of legal regulations protecting privacy and personal data, - Basic definitions (personal data, administrator, processor), - General rules for the processing of personal data, - Rights of the data subject (right to information, right to be forgotten, the right of portability and others), - Obligations related to data security (privacy by default and privacy by design), - Risk-based approach - Data transfers to third countries, - Status and tasks of the supervisory body, - Sanctions and rules of liability for a GDPR violation, - Data protection and privacy in employement relations, - Selected sector-specific rules on the protection of personal data. |
