ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The subject of the seminar are the relations between public administration with non-governmental organisations. Students will learn the basic issues related to the non-governmental sector in Poland and in Europe as well as the opportunities and risks arising from cooperation between the public and non-governmental sectors. The main goal of the lecture is to highlight specific characteristics of the non-governmental sector and possible forms of cooperation.

1. Non-governmental organisations, definition, legal forms.

2. Forms of cooperation based on the Act on Public Benefit and Volunteer Work.

3. Cooperation program with non-governmental organisations

4. Relations of public administration with non-governmental organisations on the example of Poland

5. Relations of public administration with non-governmental organisations on the example of other European Union Member States

As part of the course, students will analyse selected legal acts, cooperation programs, solve case studies, prepare presentations and carry out SWOT analyses.

The student knows the legal basis for the functioning of non-governmental organisations and cooperation between non-governmental organisations and public administration.

The student can indicate the various forms of cooperation between non-governmental organisations and public administration.

The student knows which of these forms of cooperation are most appropriate in specific circumstances.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

attendance - confirmed by attendance lists;

- continuous assessment consisting checking students’ preparation for classes and willingness to undertake the activities during classes

- for willing students, preparing project presentation on a subject chosen by the person conducting the classes
