1. Through class discussions, and individual case studies Gain a better understanding of the legal side of human resource theories and how they apply to the workplace. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of human resource functions and procedures as they relate to employment laws 3. Understand how to analyze and solve problems in the workplace and enhance their communication skills 4. Understand legal standards to common business/HR situations. 5. Explore compliance with the numerous laws that regulate businesses. 6. Identify available legal remedies. 7. Assist in the defense of legal penalties and avoid litigation. |

The course focuses on the study of the legal aspects of human resources, especially how laws and court decisions impact today’s human resource functions. This course presents the laws that organizations must comply with to implement policies, procedures, and fair employment practices when making decisions about people, at different stages of the employment cycle, including hiring, assessing performance, promotions, compensation, and termination. The role of individual supervisors and managers in today’s workplace will be examined with a view to our legalistic environment |

One examination covering topics in class regarding hiring, management, and other topics presented in the lecture material or documents given to the class. |
