Short description:

The lecture aims to present the most important regulations in the field of international air, space law and law of the sea.

Air transport is becoming the dominant mode of transport in the world. In 2014, 58 million people worked in the air transport sector, and the total value of business activity in it is 2.4 trillion dollars. In 2034, it should be 105 million employees and 6 trillion dollars, and the number of passengers, globally, will reach 7.3 billion.

The second extremely important area for the global economy and functioning of modern societies is space. Artificial satellites are practically applicable to most areas of life on the earth. Currently, modern space technologies play a huge role in both military and civilian needs. They are used, among others in communications, banking, insurance, meteorology, geodesy and cartography, geology, agriculture, transport, etc.

The third area is the status of the sea and the sea transport.

Full description:

International air law consists of three systems - Chicago-bilateral system, Warsaw-Montreal system and Tokyo-Hague-Montreal-Beijing system (the system of international criminal air law). The EU air law will be discussed as well. The main issues are the legal status of airspace and the rules of its use by air carrier, broadly understood passenger rights and related to them issues of the legal liability of air carriers. The process of liberalization of air transport in the European Union will also be presented, among others the rules on the licensing of air carriers, their access to routes within the European Union, air fares and the allocation of operations times at airports. Issues of application of competition law in air transport are also discussed.

Within the framework of international space law, the folloewing issues will be discussed: the legal status of the space, the rules of activity of states and other entities in this environment, legal aspects of the use of satellite technologies.
