Short description:	The course concerns culture adaptation of psychological tests. It contains theoretical bases of culture adaptation: etic (common for different cultures) and emic (unique for one culture)levels. Different contexts of culture adaptation and different ways and levels of adaptation will be discussed: transcription, translation, travesty, paraphrase and reconstruction. The problems of culture-fair tests will be also discussed. All these problems will be presented on specific examples.
Full description:	The course concerns culture adaptation of psychological tests. It contains theoretical bases of culture adaptation: etic (common for different cultures) and emic (unique for one culture)levels. Different contexts of culture adaptation and different ways and levels of adaptation will be discussed: transcription, translation, travesty, paraphrase and reconstruction. The problems of culture-fair tests will be also discussed. All these problems will be presented on specific examples.

Learning outcomes:	Wiedza: studenci poznają zasady adaptacji testów psychologicznych, zarówno od strony teoretycznej, jak i od praktycznej - na podstawie różnej kategorii testów. Poznają różne sposoby adaptacji w zależności od celu (np. porównanie międzykulturowe lub diagnoza indywidualna) oraz dowiadują się o trudnościach i ograniczeniach, jakie wynikają z procedury adaptacji. Tematyka zajęć koncentruje się na kulturowym aspekcie konstruowania, adaptacji oraz stosowania testów (kontekst kulturowy na każdym etapie). Postawy: krytycyzm wobec pseudo adaptacji testów i uczulenie na informacje, czy procedura adaptacyjna była zgodna z zasadami psychometrii; wyczulenie na pewne aspekty związane ze stosowaniem testów psychologicznych, a przede wszystkim na różnice międzykulturowe w tym zakresie Umiejętności: umiejętność rozróżnienia dobrej i złej adaptacji testu psychologicznego; umiejętność dokonania wyboru rodzaju adaptacji w zależności od celu i od rodzaju testu; umiejętność zastosowania zdobytej wiedzy na konkretnym przykładzie - zaproponowanie i uzasadnienie konkretnej procedury adaptacji.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	Zaliczenie na ocenę. Kryteria brane pod uwagę: końcowe kolokwium pisemne (pytania otwarte); wykonanie zadania praktycznego (propozycja konkretnej procedury adaptacyjnej na wybranym przykładzie oryginalnego testu); aktywność na zajęciach. Dodatkowe zadanie (nie obligatoryjne) - wygłoszenie referatu z proponowanej listy tematów, w oparciu o podaną literaturę oraz literaturę wyszukaną przez studenta. Referat oceniony >dobry podnosi ostateczna ocenę o pół stopnia. procentowo: kolokwium 70% oceny końcowej, zadanie obligatoryjne 15%, aktywność na zajęciach 15%.
