  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The main item of lessons will be the wildest definition of notion what it means "knowledge" and "science". The presentation of the whole process of scientist's researching will be served to understand the role of genuineness and earnestness in construction of new thesis. The different ways of scientific cognizance will be accompanied by presentation of the most important methods, techniques and methodological tools which bellows to information and book studies and the others humanities like history, sociology, pedagogy, psychology, etc. How can we used and adopt them in our discipline.

Full description:

During the lessons, apart from the familiarization with the particular stages of researching process and with the most important scientific assumptions, we are going to make a presentation the definition and the importance the methodology of sciences. The students will be introduced in the main principles of building the knowledge and in the methods of her verifications. Besides for the presentation of the most important methods, techniques and methodological tools which bellow to information and book studies and the others humanities will be analyzing some new economical methodology which can be adopted into the book studies.

We are going to consider some methodological and technical problems connected with writing a thesis or a paper, to learn how make the different kind of bibliography and particularly the references. The scientific quest and investigations of some kind of information will be practiced by students during the course. The ability of writing some archival sources (manuscripts) will be training. The answers about such the questions like how to learn, how to accumulate and connect the knowledge from different fields, how to pass the different exams, etc., will be certificated by appropriate literature and the best practices.

The students will be improved to construct some polemical and creative opinion about papers, conferences, colloquies, ect.

Learning outcomes:

Has general knowledge in the field of book and information science

Has basic knowledge of main development lines and most important achievements in book and information science and the disciplines proper for library science and scientific information.

Has basic research skills encompassing formulating and analysing research problems, choosing the methodology and tools, processing and presenting the results in the field of book and information science.

Is capable of using basic theoretical projections, scientific paradigms and terms appropriate to the field of book studies and library science in typical professional situations.

Has the ability to factual demonstration within the field of book and information studies, with application of the views of other authors, and is capable of formulating conclusions.

Knows how to prepare typical written works in Polish, and in a foreign language generally accepted as basic for book and information studies, with relation to detailed issues, utilizing basic theoretical projections and various sources.

Knows how to prepare typical oral presentations in Polish, and in a foreign language generally accepted as basic for book and information studies, with relation to detailed issues, utilizing basic theoretical projections and various sources.

Is capable of cooperation and team-work, performing various roles is such activities.

Is capable of appropriate distinction of priorities in the process of realization tasks set for himself and others.
