Short description:

The aim of this class is to provide students with skills that will help them better communicate their ideas both on paper and in speaking.

Full description:

We will start from working on presentation skills. Through active participation in in-class exercises students will work on speaking and evaluating other's speeches. Clarity of thought, presentation structure and body language will be our main focus.

In the second part of our course we will work on academic writing. Tips from acknowledged authors who have helped to improve the writing of people from around the world will be provided to help students better understand the academic writing process. We will focus on text structure, paragraph division and vocabulary. We will also have a closer look at different writing styles used in various anthropological journals.

Students will be encouraged to present their ideas within the realm of anthropology, however students from other backgrounds are also invited to participate.

Po ukończeniu zajęć studenci potrafią:

- analitycznie myśleć i dokonywać obserwacji i krytyki przemian społeczno-kulturowych

- posługiwać się wybranym językiem obcym na poziomie B2+ Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego

- posługiwać się specjalistyczną terminologią z zakresu etnologii i antropologii kulturowej w języku obcym
