  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The aim of the course is to present key concepts, ideas and terms typical of Jewish thought, as well as to discuss their reception in literature.

Full description:

During the course the following topics will be discussed in detail:

1) Concepts such as: Oral Torah, written Torah, creation, revelation, salvation;

2) Ideas: "classic" rabbinic, messianic, kabbalistic;

3) Fragments of the writings of Jewish thinkers such as: Martin Buber, Emmanuel Levinas, Abraham Heschel, Jeshayahu Leibovic, etc .;

4) Fragments of literary works by authors such as Franz Kafka, Chaim Nachman Bialik;

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course the student will: 1. Know the most important concepts and the main representatives of Jewish thought; 2. Be able to correctly use appropriate terms related to the discussed topics; 3. Be able to Independently find and use the literature on the subject.
