Brief description

The course covers contact lens basics, contact lens fitting, lens care, and contact lens legal issues. Students will gain skills in examining prospective wearers, assessing the eye, selecting lenses, fitting soft lenses, correcting astigmatism and presbyopia, dispensing lenses and conducting follow-up appointments. In addition, complications of lens wear, dry eye, and legal aspects of contact lenses as medical devices are discussed.

The lecture concerns physiological bases of various bioelectric signals measured from the human body. The main emphasis is put on electroencephalographic signals generated by the human brain. Besides, the origin of signals from the heart, muscles, eye and galvanic skin response are also presented.

Lecture for the 3rd year of European Studies of Ophthalmic Optics and Optometry, devoted to selected issues of properly formed visual perception, as well as its development and disorders. The lecture considers in particular the clinical aspects of visual perception and the consequences of its disorders for optometric examination.
