Brief description

The subject consists of two parts. The first part (lecture) is a theoretical introduction to refractive measurement for eye disorders and diseases. The second part consists of practical exercises, both the use of optometric instruments and the measurement of patients from groups at high risk of eye diseases.

Zagadnienia w części biostatystycznej, prowadzonej z użyciem oprogramowania:

1. Statystyka opisowa (miary położenia i rozproszenia)

2. Testy istotności dla porównywania dwóch prób

Testy parametryczne ( test t-studenta dla prób niezależnych, test t-studenta dla prób zależnych)

Testy nieparametryczne ( test Manna-Whitneya, test kolejności par Wilcoxona)

3. Badanie zależności między cechami niemierzalnymi , tabele wielodzielcze, test niezależności chi2.

4. Korelacja (współczynnik korelacji Pearsona, współczynnik rang Spearmana)

Brief description

The subject comprehensively explores the topic of pediatric optometry, starting from the development of vision, psychological aspects of contact with a child, procedures and scheme of examination of infants, preschool and school children. The basic diseases of children's eyes are presented. Areas of visual perception and tests used to assess the processing of visual information are discussed. Skeffington's vision model and the model and adaptive mechanisms of near-point stress are mentioned. Diagnostics of the retained primary reflexes and their impact on functioning are described. The role of an optometrist in managing children in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is discussed.
