The aim of the lecture is to introduce rock genesis; to present the most important types of magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks as well as processes responsible for the rock formation. Phase and geochemical composition, textures and possible environments of the rock formation are shown. The lecture has interdisciplinary character e.g. has connection to structural geology (plate tectonics), sedimentology (analysis of sedimentary basins), geochemistry (of magmatic and metamorphic processes), petrogenetic thermodynamic and wide range of mineralogy. |
