Brief description
The course is designed to familiarize students with working methods and activities of a specialized laboratory testing the implementation of their thesis. The classes include discussion of the theoretical basis of research and presentation of test methodology. Following this, the student independently performs a test on samples delivered to the laboratory from the area of his research. The student presents his research plan that is agreed with his supervisor. The student individually makes a critical analysis of literature in the field of the planned research. The student performs soil tests and analyzes the obtained results. |

Classes
Summer semester 2023/24
Groups
Brief description
The classes allow you to familiarize yourself with selected methods of testing the geomechanical properties of rocks by performing measurements and laboratory tests and selected field tests along with the interpretation of the results. As part of the classes, students independently perform on individually assigned rock samples: - geometrical measurements of test samples to determine the basic parameters of physical properties, - ultrasonic measurements of rock elasticity parameters, - laboratory tests: uniaxial compression and stretching (Brazilian method). The course also provides information on: - methods of interpreting the results of geomechanical tests, - ultrasonic testing of elasticity parameters, - laboratory tests: uniaxial and triaxial compression, tensile, fracture toughness index KIc. |
