Brief description
(in Polish) Wykład składa się z dwóch części – pierwsza obejmuje podstawy etologii, druga – podstawy genetyki. Celem pierwszej części zajęć jest uzupełnienie wiedzy studentów pierwszego roku nt. biologicznych mechanizmów zachowania o podstawy etologii, tj. nauki o „obyczajach” zwierząt. Studenci zapoznają się z podstawowymi pojęciami służącymi do opisu, klasyfikacji oraz wyjaśniania źródeł i przyczyn zachowania zwierząt. Zgodnie z paradygmatem etologii akcentowany będzie adaptacyjny aspekt zachowania. Celem drugiej części zajęć jest zapoznanie studentów z podstawową wiedzą z zakresu genetyki klasycznej i molekularnej. W ramach kursu omawiane będą między innymi następujące zagadnienia: rodzaje i budowa kwasów nukleinowych, prawa i mechanizmy dziedziczenia, główne mechanizmy funkcjonowania genów. Wskazywane będą możliwe mechanizmy wpływu genetycznego na zachowanie. |

Brief description
The psychological thought in the pre-scientific psychology era (i.e. through nearly entire course of history), although indirectly, can be easily found in the concepts of upbringing and systems of religious beliefs, the arts, medicine, and later in philosophy and, extended from it, theology, paedagogy, and other fields of intellectual culture. From the moment it became a science psychological thought is present as psychology as we know (although it is also present in the psychiatry). Getting into the history of psychology, not only provides satisfaction to an intelligent subject through mastering knowledge on interesting matters and people, but also makes it easier to understand the main divisions in the contemporary psychology. Further, it should provide a broader view on the fundamentals of psychology, provide understanding of the changes psychological thought went through, and, as a result, provide sense of its continuity. |

The aim of the lectures is to introduce students to a broad range of psychological terms and to present the major issues studied in psychology. The research process in psychology will be presented as well as the discipline’s major achievements. Students should be able to associate all this with the names of researchers and authors of theories as well as the relevant geographical locations and time periods. Having passed the final test, students should be well prepared for pursuing studies in any field of psychology, in which they will find already familiar elements or at least ones they have heard of. |
