The course introduces students to selected theoretical issues and basic terminology of cultural anthropology. Its aim is to show the main tendencies, analytical and interpretive perspectives of research and basic notions in anthropological studies in relation to phenomena of Iberian and Ibero-American cultures, and help to develop the methodological tools which will allow students to carry out their own analysis of cultural phenomena. |

Brief description
The classes are a basic course in which students learn about the history of pre-Hispanic and Colonial America. The first part of the course includes the history, culture and greatest achievements of pre-Hispanic civilizations on the example of the Mayas, Aztecs, Chavín, Nazca, Moche, Wari and the Incas. In the second part of the semester, students learn about the European conditions and the course and consequences of geographical discoveries and conquests organized by the Spanish kingdom, as well as the process of forming a new colonial reality in America and its functioning until the end of 18th century. |
