I. Tendencies in modern linguistics

1. Structuralism (formal and functional). Methodological assumptions. The concepts of a system, form, function, relevant and redundant features, diachrony, and synchrony.

2. Generative-transformational linguistics.

3. Cognitive linguistics.

II. Linguistic fields

1. External linguistics: phonetics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics.

2. Internal linguistics: phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax, lexicology, stylistics).

III. Principles of natural language description

1. Principles of genetic and typological classification of languages. Natural, ethnic (including Creole) languages, inter-ethnic Pidgin, artificial); alive, dead. Families and language groups. Isolating-positional, agglutinative, fusion languages.

2. Portuguese as a pluricentric language. Creole languages ​​based on Portuguese.

3. Morphology.

4. Grammatical categories.

5. Syntax issues

6. Semantics
