Short description: |
The lecture "Harmonic analysis" is addressed to students interested in analysis. During the course classical results of commutative harmonic and Fourier analysis will be presented. The course is a perfect introduction to more sophisticated topics in modern analysis. |

1. Introduction. L1(T) algebra. Fourier coefficients. 2. The Riemann-Lebesgue lemma. Approximative kernels. 3. Convergence of Fejer and Poisson means almost everywhere. 4. Order of magnitude of Fourier coefficients. 5. Fourier series of square summable functions. 6. Algebra of absolutely summing Fourier series. 7. Pointwise convergence of Fourier series (Dini and Lipschitz criteria). 8. Sets of divergence. 9. Hardy's spaces. Conjugate function. 10. Hilbert's inequality. Theorem of Hardy and Littlewood. Theorem of F. and M. Riesz. 11. Theorems of Kolmogorov and Zygmund. Riesz and Hilbert transform. 12. Calderon-Zygmund theory. 13. Introduction to multipliers. Hormander-Michlin theorem. 14. McGehee-Pigno-Smith theorem (Littlewood conjecture proved also by Konyagin). 15. Basic information about Fourier-Stieltjes coefficients of measure. 16. Idempotent measures and Helson's theorem. |

Learning outcomes: |
(in Polish) Student po odbyciu kursu "analiza harmoniczna": 1. Zna i rozumie podstawowe pojęcia teorii szeregów Fouriera. 2. Potrafi zastosować wiedzę o rozwinięciach w szeregi Fouriera do wykazania klasycznych wyników analizy. 3. Rozumie, dlaczego problem sumowalności szeregów Fouriera jest istotnie łatwiejszy niż problem ich zbieżności. 4. Jest w stanie za pomocą twierdzeń analizy funkcjonalnej wykazać istnienie funkcji ciągłych o rozbieżnym w pewnym punkcie szeregu Fouriera. 5. Umie wskazać jak odpowiednie warunki gładkości wpływają na współczynniki Fouriera. 6. Zna podstawowy język abstrakcyjnej analizy harmonicznej (np. operatory mnożnikowe i słabego typu) oraz potrafi podać przykład jej zastosowania do klasycznych problemów zbieżności szeregów Fouriera. 7. Rozumie różnice pomiędzy analizą harmoniczną w przypadku miar i w przypadku funkcji. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
(in Polish) Na koniec semestru przewidziany jest egzamin pisemny, którego wynik wraz z aktywnością na ćwiczeniach będzie podstawą do zaproponowania oceny. Osoby zainteresowane jej poprawą zostaną zaproszone na egzamin ustny. Najaktywniejsze osoby na ćwiczeniach mogą zostać zwolnione z egzaminu z oceną bardzo dobrą. |
