Prerequisites (description): | Student will have general knowledge about Baltic Sea geology, bottom and coast relief, climate and water balance of the sea, water dynamics, euthrophication and environment protection. Importance of catchment approach to water quality control and international cooperation will be stressed. Lecture is given within Baltic University programme. |

Full description: |
Baltic sea is semi-closed sea with positive water balance. It means a high flux of fresh water from the chatchment together with nutrients and polutants. Important is understanding of the processes shaping the sea cosats, water circulation and dynamics. Link between catchment and the sea is critical in euthripication control. International cooperation is a key factor in Baltic Sea protection. |
