ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge in the field of setting up and running a business, creating entrepreneurial attitudes and improving the skills of critical, innovative, creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

Full description:

In the conditions of job insecurity, with the desire for professional self-improvement, more and more young, educated people decide to take their own career into their own hands and take the risk of setting up and running their own business. It is a risky path, but often bringing disproportionately high benefits, giving great satisfaction and a chance for self-realization. This course will allow to acquire knowledge necessary to set up an independent enterprise and to acquire skills shaping entrepreneurial attitudes.

The topics of the course will consider the following issues:

1. Introduction to the subject of entrepreneurship

2. Entrepreneurial attitudes and risks in business

3. Innovative entrepreneurship

4. Academic entrepreneurship

5. Basics of making a business plan

6. Discussing the legal forms of conducting business available on the Polish market

7. Registration procedures

8. Sources of financing business operations

9. Taxes and insurance in business

10. What is worth remembering when doing business

11. Good practices - examples of people who managed to set up a company in Poland and achieve success

Classes take the form of a seminar where students will be drawn in to interact, work in groups, analyze the situation and draw conclusions.

The coordinator of the course since 2008 has its own company, constantly gaining and developing practical skills. Course will combine theory and practice - introduce into the secrets of entrepreneurship and setting up companies in Poland, and on the other hand refer as much as possible to practice, with reference to examples from economic life, real requirements of officials, real threats and real benefits.

Learning outcomes:

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, the student has knowledge of entrepreneurship, principles of establishing companies in Poland, has skills in registration and running a business, knows the ethical and legal principles of conduct in business.

Knowledge:

After completing the course, the student has the knowledge necessary to independently set up a company, is able to discuss the legal forms of running businesses, knows the basic rules of taxing the operation of enterprises, knows the duties related to employing employees and social insurance.

Skills:

After completing the course, the student is able to choose the legal form and tax form of his company, conduct a SWOT analysis of the activity, identify sources of financing, can set up a company and start running it. The skills of critical, innovative, creative and entrepreneurial thinking are also shaped.

Social competences - attitudes:

As a result of participation in classes, pro-entrepreneurial attitudes are shaped, competences are developed to support the development of companies through the implementation of innovation, seeking sources of financing activities. In addition, the attitudes of ethical, careful and based on applicable norms and legal principles are shaped
