ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge in the field of running a business, including ways to operate in the event of threats to enterprises and change management. During the course, students will be able to acquire competences in the field of business development management, including in the area of strategic planning (creation of organizational development strategies) and financial (including setting material and financial schedules, sources of financing) and monitoring and controlling the implementation of the company's development strategy and finances.

Full description:

1. Basics of creating a business model: forms of conducting business, forms of business taxation, construction of the "value added chain" of the company, main assumptions about the business model

2. The basics of creating a company's development strategy: The process of building a strategy and its components, vision and mission of the organization, logic of strategy creation

3. External analysis (Porter five forces analysis)

4. Internal analysis (organizational audit)

5. SWOT analysis, Canvas model

6. Logic diagram of creating strategic goals, setting strategic goals, creating a management system and monitoring strategy implementation, BSC

7. Exercise creating development strategies

8. Basics of creating marketing strategy, negotiations

9. Basics of keeping financial and accounting records

10. Financial reporting (construction of financial statements), ability to analyse financial statements

11. Basics of creating a financial plan (material and financial schedule, revenue plan, including methods of determining the price)

12. Sources of financing business operations (financing with equity, raising funds by issuing shares, acquiring a strategic investor, financial, venture capital, crowdfunding, bond issue, obtaining a bank loan, leasing, factoring)

13. Exercise creating a financial plan

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course the student has knowledge of the basics of running a company in Poland, has the skills to choose the business model of the company (including legal form) and programming its development (development strategy construction), also knows the financial basics of running your own business.

Knowledge:

After completing the course, the student knows the procedures for setting up and running his own business, he is able to discuss the legal forms of running businesses, he knows the basic principles of taxing business operations.

Skills:

After completing the course, the student can set up his own business, including choose the legal form, draw up the company's development strategy and financial plan (income and cost forecast).

Social competencies - basic:

After completing the course, the student understands the reliability of running a business, is aware of the effects of decisions, understands the need for continuous improvement, acquiring new knowledge and skills.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Learning outcomes are assessed on the basis of pass (60%) and team work results during the entire semester (40%)
