  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The editing and the book market.

Full description:

The classes concern the economic and cultural aspects of editing, affecting the functioning of the Polish book market in the 20th century and today. The issues of the functioning of publishing houses and bookselling companies, their nature and type of activity in the era of rapid technological and socio-cultural changes are discussed. In reference to these issues, a book is presented, and to some extent also a press, including because of their business role.

Learning outcomes:

Structured detailed knowledge on selected cultural, economic and historical issues in the field of bibliology.

Orientation in the problems of the modern book-publishing movement

Ability to search, analyze and evaluate information on the book market, as well as critical reading of studies in this field.

Ability to use basic terminology in this area.

Competence in the knowledge and assessment of basic problems of the publishing and book world.

Appreciating the importance of the role of book institutions and the situation on the publishing and book market for the shape and richness of national culture.
