Presentation in chronological order of iconographic, archaeological and textual sources, which can be used to reconstruct the development of Egyptian military in the times of pharaohs. Main topics: - weapons; - military architecture; - army organization; - military campaigns; - goals and results of Egyptian wars. Main focus will be on well documented military campaigns carried out by the Egyptian state during the New Kingdom (16-11 cent. BC). These campaigns resulted in creating an Egyptian Empire in Syria-Palestine and Nubia – the empire, which competed with major middle eastern powers of that time: Mittanni and Hittite states. |
