Short description:

The course is a continuation of a series of lectures devoted to various dimensions of the climate crisis, organized at the Institute of Polish Culture since 2019.

Full description:

The classes take the form of lectures and discussions with invited experts, activists and researchers on topics related to the climate crisis. In this series, we will look in particular at various spheres of our everyday life and how they are involved in a system that destroys the climate and environment, as well as what changes are necessary to ensure that our functioning is safe for the planet and ensures the needs of all people on Earth. We will try to go beyond the dichotomy of individual and systemic changes and show how inextricably intertwined they are with each other.

Classes are held once a month. A detailed schedule will be provided at the beginning of the semester.

Learning outcomes:

The student knows and understands the sources of the ecological and climate crisis. The student is able to take part in a discussion using correct argumentation strategies and logical operations. The student is ready to demonstrate care and concern for the natural environment, social and environmental justice.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The basis for passing the classes is attendance and active participation. Two unexcused absences are allowed. Detailed assessment criteria will be established together with the group during the first class.
