This course is devoted to contemporary Lithuanian literature in its Polish translations. This course is supplementary to the “History of Lithuanian Literature (“Historia literatury litewskiej”) course. |
Full description: |
During the course, main processes that occur in contemporary Lithuanian literature are discussed, on the example of Lithuanian poetry and prose translated into Polish. Works of uppermost Lithuanian authors of the 2nd half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century (Gavelis, Kondrotas, Kunčinas, Parulskis, Ivaškevičius, Šerelytė, Kunčius, Sabaliauskaitė – prose; Geda, Bložė, Martinaitis, Marcinkevičius, Platelis, Kajokas, Jonynas, Parulskis, Grajauskas – poetry; and others) shall serve as examples of various tendencies phenomena present in te Lithuanian literature of past four decades. |

Learning outcomes: |
Knowledge: – student has knowledge about recent literary tendencies; – student can identify main contemporary Lithuanian writers and is able to characterise their work; Abilities: – analyses literary text on his/her own; – is able to select and use subject literature. Attitudes: – understands the role of literature as an area of culture which reflects historical processes and social phenomena. (Abilities) analyzes and interprets literary texts, taking into account the historical and cultural context; presents a brief statement analysis and interpretation in the Lithuanian language; interprets and uses the literature on the subject (also in Lithuanian); correctly chooses and uses right techniques for translation of selected literary works. (Attitudes) understand the role of literature as a sphere which is the reflection of historical processes and social phenomena; understand the role of the translator of literary communication. |
