(in Polish) Mozaiki antyczne we wschodniej części morza śródziemnego

Wykład poświęcony jest mozaice greckiej (od V w. p.n.e.), hellenistycznej, rzymskiej i

późnoantycznej (do pocz. VII w. n.e.). Mozaiki pochodzą ze stanowisk archeologicznych w

Grecji, na Cyprze, Turcji, Syrii, Jordanii, Izraela, Libanu, Egiptu i Libii. Oprócz mozaik

odkrytych w XIX i XX w., na wykładzie będą omówione odkrycia dokonane w ostatnich

latach.

Mozaiki dekorowały posadzki, ściany i sufity budynków prywatnych, publicznych i

oczywiście miejsca kultów religijnych. Wykład omówi historię mozaiki w sposób regionalny

i historyczny. Omówimy tematy geometryczne i figuralne mozaik (mitologiczne, z życia

prywatnego, historyczne), które stanowiły część dekoracji architektonicznej, w ich

kontekście. Zastanowimy się nad symboliką i semantyką poszczególnych repertuarów

dekoracyjnych.

Na zajęciach student zdobywa wiedzę ogólną o mozaice od jej początku, aż po czasy bizantyjskie.

Poznaje również, historię i geografię mozaiki, sztuki i architektury klasycznej i rzymskiej we

wschodnich prowincjach świata antycznego. Poznaje, oprócz poszczególnych zabytków, rolę mozaiki

w kontekście dekoracji architektonicznej. Zapoznaje się z mitologią grecką i rzymską. Poznaje również

problematykę społeczną i filozoficzną przy interpretacji dzieł sztuki antycznej.

Egzamin ustny polegający na omówieniu mozaiki w kontekście geograficznym i hitorycznym oraz

skomentowaniu kilku zabytków na podstawie ilustracji oraz osadzenia ich w kontekście epoki.
