The course aims at providing the students with basic information on the history of the first eight centuries of Christianity, especially the doctrinal developments. The course uses the methodology of history, particular attention will be given to the availability of sources and their analysis. |

Learning outcomes: |
At the end of the course student: - have acquired basic information about the history of Christianity in the first eight centuries, - understands the processes of the growth of Christianity, the origins of the Church hierarchy, the defining of Orthodoxy, - is able to show the main sources to the history of early Christianity, - knows how to assess their authenticity and credibility, - is able to explain the basic points of the main theologial controversies, especially the Trinitarian and Christological ones. |
