Short description: |
The course is dedicated to the process of unification of Germany in long 19th century, starting with the conceptions of the nation established in the Age of Enlightenment, trough German policy of the emperor Napoleon I, the impact of Napoleon’s policy in Germany, student movement after 1815, functioning of the German Union, growing antagonism between Prussia and Austria, Revolution of 1848-49, wars of unification 1863-1871, up to the internal (Political Catholicism, social democracy, militarization of the society, demands for democratization) and international (Bismarck’s alliance policy, world policy of William II, colonial and naval policy) challenges to Second Reich after 1871. |
