Short description:

The aim of the classes is to familiarize participants with the profiles and works of the most outstanding choreographers of the 20th century (including Niżyński, Graham, Balanchine, Béjart, Cranko, Neumeier, Kylián, Ejfman, Ek, Forsythe, Bausch, De Keersmaeker, Waltz), and thus determining the main trends and individual styles of 20th century choreography. An additional aim of the classes is to familiarize students with the factors and coefficients of stage dance, stylistic means used in the 20th century, as well as to acquire basic competences in discussing and characterizing choreographic works.

The aim of the classes is to familiarize participants with the profiles and works of the most outstanding choreographers of the 20th century (including Niżyński, Graham, Balanchine, Béjart, Cranko, Neumeier, Kylián, Ejfman, Ek, Forsythe, Bausch, De Keersmaeker, Waltz), and thus determining the main trends and individual styles of 20th century choreography. An additional aim of the classes is to familiarize students with the factors and coefficients of stage dance, stylistic means used in the 20th century, as well as to acquire basic competences in discussing and characterizing choreographic works.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge of the greatest choreographers of the 20th century and their most outstanding choreographic works; knowledge of the main trends and individual styles in 20th century choreography; orientation in the scope of stylistic means used in the discussed period; ability to discuss and characterize choreographic works.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Participation in 70% of the classes or passing a test to check the knowledge acquired during the classes.
