Full description:

Interactions between music and the technical instruments of its reproduction and transmission in mass media; the role of reproduction techniques in culture. Music in the media will be discussed as an independent art preserved in the form of recorded sound and as material for other forms of art. We will tackle the problem of a phonographic work in its theoretical and aesthetic aspects. The historical part of the course will include a detailed discussion of the history of the recording industry. The discussed problems will be illustrated by music played back from records, fragments of radio and television broadcasts as well as films
