ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 8.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

Student should pass the exam on the subject: Learning of the Russian language II variant “0” and credit III variant “0”.

The indispensable condition is to master General Russian within the subjects referring to everyday life (home, family, education, professional issues and the III semester topics as well).


Short description:

The classes are aimed to develop and polish communication skills: comprehension listening, speaking, reading and writing within the lexical, morphological and syntactical material defined for B2 level according to CEFR as well as to communicative and linguistic competence within the subjects referring to everyday life: man and nature, sport in human life, modern information and communication technologies.

Lexical topics:

1. Man and nature. Seasons. Weather forecasts. Climate and weather. Natural disasters. Problems of ecology and environmental protection. Seasons in the works of Russian literature and Russian painting. Folk holidays.

2. Sport in human life. Sports disciplines (group and individual sports, extreme sports disciplines). Sports competitions (eliminations, cups, championships, Olympic Games, history of the Olympic movement).

3. Modern information and communication technologies (globalization of the world through the media; information society and knowledge society; digital divide; computer and Internet - equipment and accessories, computer games; computer and Internet addiction, social networking, e-learning, use of ICT in education).

Learning outcomes:

KNOWLEDGE

1. The student knows and understands on the advanced level the relations and interdependence in the process of learning the language as well as the culture of given linguistic region

2. The student has knowledge concerning realities in Russia within the subjects expected by the program

3. The student has knowledge relating to the sources of information acquisition and its selection from web resources and databases within the subjects expected by the program

SKILLS

1. The student can make precise, clear and comprehensive oral and written statements as well as formulate his/her own opinion in discussion within the subjects expected by the program

2. The student uses in his/her statements acquired vocabulary, collocations, set phrases, grammar constructions expected by the program

3. The student can prepare, present, explain and justify his/her opinion in the form of a multimedia presentation within the subjects covered by the program

SOCIAL COMPETENCES

1. The student is ready to acknowledge the importance of knowledge for developing his/her own interests related to the improvement of Russian

2. The student is ready to accepts a variety of attitudes, opinions and arguments in interpersonal relations

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Assessment of the course:

- presence and active participation in classes,

- systematic preparation for the assigned material,

- preparing homeworks and control works on time,

- active participation in preparation for presentations, speeches, projects.

The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

In order to obtain a credit the following criteria are taken into account:

- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5,0 (very good grade)

- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4,5 (good plus)

- achieving the assumed learning outcomes not taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4,0 (good grade)

- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)

- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3,0 (satisfactory)

- no achievement of the assumed learning outcomes - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)

The components of assessment:

- continuous assessment (the current preparation for classes and activities) - 30%

- control tests during the semester - 35%

- presentations, speeches, projects – 35%

Criteria for the assessment of written statement:

a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,

b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,

c/ composition,

d/ the length of work,

e/ richness of vocabulary,

f/ linguistic correctness.

Criteria for the assessment of oral statement:

a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,

b/ cohesion and fluency of speech,

c/ richness of vocabulary,

d/ linguistic correctness,

e/ correct pronunciation.

The final exam includes the material of III and IV semester. The final exam consists of written and oral parts:

- written part (test - 9 grammar and lexical tasks + 1 translation task, consisting of 20 sentences + essay to choose from three given topics)

criteria:

knowledge of grammatical, vocabulary and spelling structures:

test – 60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory)

69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus)

78% - 86% - 4 (good)

87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)

96% - 100% - 5 (very good)

essay/criteria:

a/ compliance with the topic,

b/ cohesion of the text

c/ lexical, grammatical and spelling correctness

- oral part (2 questions)/criteria:

a/ communicative efficiency (the student understands the interlocutor, adequately answers questions and formulates answers, is aware of the most important politeness conventions)

b/ fluency of statements

c/ correct use of grammatical structures

d/ usage of proper vocabulary

e/ correctness of pronunciation and intonation

The condition for passing the exam is passing its written and oral parts.

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.

Practical placement:

No professional training within the subject.
