ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 10.00 (differs over time) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Prerequisites (description):

To arouse students' interest to literary and history studies.

Submission of the thesis, the preparation of the paper.

Short description:

The subject of the examination will be widely understood relations of Russian literature with the history of Russia and the USSR. The main aim of the seminar is to prepare the students to write a bachelor's work.

Full description:

The seminar is intended to broadening and deepening knowledge of Russian literature and its connections with history, which will allow students to prepare a bachelor thesis dedicated to the selected work, writer or issue. This goal is achieved by reading the most important historical-literary and theoretical works concerning Russian literature and discuss them in class.

Specific purposes: broadening and deepening knowledge of Russian literature and its widely understood historical context, as well as mastering of literary workshop.

Specific issues:

1. Russian literature to the critical historical events on the basis of the material of twentieth century (on Russian and European scale )

2. The discourse of power - the discourse of the opposition in the twentieth century

3. Other specific issues adapted to the subject of bachelor's works.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

− The student knows the achievements of selected Polish, Russian and West European researchers of Russian literature involved in connections of literature and history, student refers to the their basic works and opinions.

− the student has systematic knowledge about the biographies and works of specific writers, especially on works that are the subject of research;

− student knows the rules of the editing of scientific texts in Russian and Polish,

− the student knows the rules of copyright,

− student knows examples of research in the field of connections between Russian literature and the history of Russia and the USSR

Skills:

− the student presents his circle of scientific interests associated with the Bachelor's seminar profile,

− the student perceives by himself the problem of research and makes the initial formulation of the thesis,

− The student can find using a variety of sources and methods informations on the topic of his thesis,

− student is able to identify the key words in the literary work,

− the student can write a summary of a literary work,

− the student has an intimate research skills in analysis and interpretation of literary works from the point of view of the historical process.

− The student uses basic literature and historical terminology,

- The student possesses detailed research abilities in the analysis and interpretation of the literary works.

− The student is able to charaterize the genezis and value of discussed issues,

− The student has an ability to work systematically.

Social competences:

− the student understands the specifics of literary studies,

− the student feels the responsibility for the preservation of European cultural and literary heritage

− student is aware of the contribution of Russian culture in Europe's cultural heritage,

− the student is aware of the importance and role of literature in the functioning of the state,

− the student is able to adequately define the priorities for the task,

− the student has a deeper awareness of his knowledge and skills, and feels the need to further learning,

− The student feels obligated to develop his own reading interests and is aware of his responsibility for the reading culture.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Evaluation of the bechelor's work.

1 ECTS - seminar

9 ECTS - student's own work:

20% - library query

30% - analysis of the material

50% - writing the bechelor's work

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.

Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
