ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 22.00 (differs over time) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

Interest in literary issues.

Short description:

The subject matter of the review shall be broadly comprehended relations of the Russian literature with West European literatures (including the Polish literature), and also the image of the countries and regions of Europe in the Russian literature and the image of Russia in Western literatures, the issues of contacts in the area of culture and the dialog of cultures.

Specific objectives: Knowledge of the Russian literature and its European context.

Specific issues:

1. Contacts on the area of culture. Dialogue of the cultures. Tradition and innovation, cultural transfer and exchange.

2. Polish-Russian literary and cultural connections.

3. Other specific issues connected with topics of the master’s theses.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

− The student knows the results of the other selected research on the cultural exchange and the dialogue of the cultures.

− The student has knowledge of the image of Poland and the Poles in the Russian literature.

− The student knows the research results of the other selected issues consistent with the themes of the thesis prepared for the seminar.

Skills:

− The student prepares the whole master’s thesis.

− The student presents the results of his own research.

− The student has the abilities in edition of the scientific text in Russian and Polish.

- The student has the advanced research skills in the area of analyzing and interpreting of the literary work.

- The student understands a specificity of the literary studies.

Evaluation of the thesis (100%)

30 h - seminar

student's own work:

10% - library query

20% - analysis of the material

70% - writing the thesis (100% of the text)

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.

Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
