The classes are a continuation of learning the Belarusian language at the basic level and serve to deepen the language competences of students based on extensive grammar material. The aim of the course is to teach students the correct use of grammatical structures in speech and writing as well as the efficient use of vocabulary related to professions, transport, trade and services. |

Classes include learning of Belarusian language at the advanced level. Their goal is to teach students the proper use of complex grammatical structures in speaking and writing and effective use of the lexicon associated with the professions, transport, trade and services. The syllabus covers such aspects of grammar as: conjugation of verbs (including verbs of motion), the types and use of adverbs in sentences, prepositional constructions, subjunctive, possessive pronouns, the use of instrumental case forms in various expressions, adjectives with suffix-awat. Their knowledge of grammar, among other things, students practice by conducting extensive interviews and discussions. To improve students' communication skills in Belarusian language in the classroom there are discussed typical ways to use language in everyday life, such as ways of asking directions, possibilities of ordering and buying goods, ways to express weights and measures, or ways to express dreams and desires. In order to improve students' language skills there are presented texts (spoken and written) relating to: life (work areas, jobs, ways of defining professions, the organization of work - office equipment, etc., pensions), transport (types and means of communication), trade (types of stores and types of products) and services (restaurants, banks, hotels, post office). Students also analyze (in terms of language and content), how to write ads and resumes, and construct them by themselves. During the course emphasized and illustrated with examples is also the problem of ambiguity of expression and the problems of equivalence in Polish and Belarusian lexemes selected language constructs. THEMATIC BLOCKS: BLOCK I - PURCHASES AND SERVICES Types of stores. Bank. Money. The ability to order and buy goods. Fractional numerals. Indefinite numerals (a little, a lot…). Compound numerals and numeral-noun connections - revision. Inflection of nouns of general gender. Dialogues in the store. Filing a complaint / returning goods. Belarusian brands. Belarusian currency. BLOCK II- HEALTH Health and disease. Medical specialties. Advice and advice for staying healthy. Well-being. Healthy Eating. Cosmetics and SPA. Sport. Imperative Modal verbs Constructions of the type of meadow for the shaft. Dialogue at the doctor. Dialogue at the hairdresser and beautician. Cupola. Belarusian athletes. STUDENT'S EXPENDITURE - ECTS POINT BALANCE 60 h - classes in the classroom, 2 ECTS; 15 h - ongoing preparation, 0.5 ECTS; 15 h - preparation for passing, 0.5 ECTS. TOTAL: 3 ECTS If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw. |

Learning outcomes: |
The student understands and has an advanced knowledge of various functions of language in the context of, e.g. literature, culture, religion, history, art, politics, economy or media the nature of language and the impact of historical and cultural changes on its development The student can: search for, analyse, evaluate, select and use information by consulting sources in various languages, including on-line sources communicate with specialists by using various channels and means of communication both in Polish and in a specific foreign language draft correct, clear and coherent papers in Polish and in foreign languages on selected topics prepare presentation in Polish and in foreign languages concerning more detailed topics by using various theoretical approaches and sources speak a foreign language at the B2 level speak a foreign language at the level indicated in the course syllabus plan and organise individual work and work in a team (including interdisciplinary tasks) individually plan and pursue his or her own process of lifelong learning The student is ready to critically evaluate his or her knowledge and the content he or she receives correctly identify and solve professional dilemmas in accordance with tradition and professional ethics |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Conditions for passing the course: - presence and active participation in classes; - systematic preparation of given material for classes; - timely performance of housework and control tests; - active participation in work on individual and group projects. Evaluation components: - continuous, shaping evaluation (current preparation for classes, activity) - 30% - mid-term tests/control work - 35% - final test - 35% Positive grades must be obtained from all NJB teachers. There is only one final semester test and it covers issues from four thematic blocks. Criteria for the assessment of mid-term and final tests: 99 – 100% - 5! (excellent) 93 - 98% - 5 (very good) 87 - 92% - 4,5 (fairly good) 77 - 86% - 4 (good) 71 - 76% - 3,5 (satisfactory plus) 60 - 70% - 3 (satisfactory) Below 60% - 2,0 (unsatisfactory) The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam. |
