  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;

A prerequisite is the completion and passing the examination of the of Belarusian language practical learning 3221-S1-0PB11C, 3221-S1-0PB12C.

Short description:

Classes include learning of Belarusian language at the advanced level. Their goal is to teach students the proper use of complex grammatical structures in speaking and writing and effective use of the lexicon associated with the professions, transport, trade and services.

Classes include learning of Belarusian language at the advanced level. Their goal is to teach students the proper use of complex grammatical structures in speaking and writing and effective use of the lexicon associated with the professions, transport, trade and services. The syllabus covers such aspects of grammar as: conjugation of verbs (including verbs of motion), the types and use of adverbs in sentences, prepositional constructions, subjunctive, possessive pronouns, the use of instrumental case forms in various expressions, adjectives with suffix-awat.

Their knowledge of grammar, among other things, students practice by conducting extensive interviews and discussions. To improve students' communication skills in Belarusian language in the classroom there are discussed typical ways to use language in everyday life, such as ways of asking directions, possibilities of ordering and buying goods, ways to express weights and measures, or ways to express dreams and desires.

In order to improve students' language skills there are presented texts (spoken and written) relating to: life (work areas, jobs, ways of defining professions, the organization of work - office equipment, etc., pensions), transport (types and means of communication), trade (types of stores and types of products) and services (restaurants, banks, hotels, post office). Students also analyze (in terms of language and content), how to write ads and resumes, and construct them by themselves.

During the course emphasized and illustrated with examples is also the problem of ambiguity of expression and the problems of equivalence in Polish and Belarusian lexemes selected language constructs.

STUDENT'S EXPENDITURE - ECTS POINT BALANCE

Student workload:

120 hours - classes in the room, 4 ECTS;

15 hours - ongoing preparation, 1.5 ECTS;

15 hours - preparation to pass, 0.5 ECTS.

TOTAL: 6 ECTS

If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes

shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google

Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.

Learning outcomes:

KNOWLEDGE

The student knows and understands at an intermediate level:

- the functioning of the Belarusian language in various contexts and communication situations;

- the nature of the Belarusian language;

SKILLS

The student is able to:

– search, analyse, evaluate, select and use information

using various sources, including Internet and Belarusian-language sources;

- recognize different types of texts and subject them to basic analysis;

- communicate using various channels and communication techniques in the Belarusian language at an intermediate level;

- use the Belarusian language at B1 level;

- plan and organize individual work and cooperate in a team (also within interdisciplinary tasks);

- independently plan and implement their own learning in the Belarusian language throughout their lives.

SOCIAL COMPETENCE

The student is ready to:

– critical assessment of knowledge and received content;

- correct identification and resolution of professional dilemmas in accordance with the traditions and principles of professional ethics;

- initiating activities for the benefit of the public interest and the local environment, acting in an entrepreneurial manner.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Conditions for passing the course:

- presence and active participation in classes;

- systematic preparation of given material for classes;

- timely performance of housework and control tests;

- active participation in work on individual and group projects.

Evaluation components:

- continuous, shaping evaluation (current preparation for classes, activity) - 30%

- mid-term tests/control work - 35%

- final test - 35%

Positive grades must be obtained from all NJB teachers.

There is only one final semester test and it covers issues from four thematic blocks.

Criteria for the assessment of mid-term and final tests:

99 – 100% - 5! (excellent)

93 - 98% - 5 (very good)

87 - 92% - 4,5 (fairly good)

77 - 86% - 4 (good)

71 - 76% - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)

60 - 70% - 3 (satisfactory)

Below 60% - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
