Short description:

The classes are designed to acquaint you with Belarusian poetry and literature. The classes will be aimed at developing an outlook on such Belarusian history topics as: genealogy, gender relations, literature and poetry.

Full description:

The class will discuss:

- Literature of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, in which the following were discussed: marriage, family, love, sex, roles of man and woman in society

- the basic principles of Belarusian literature and poetry

- Belarusian language and literature in modern society

Learning outcomes:

Effects of the literary subject:

Students will know and understand;

the material and methodological specifics of literary studies

The student will gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter and methodological specificity of literary studies.

The student will be able to: a) understand the subject matter specificity and methodology of literary studies, b) understand to a deeper extent literary terminology, also in the scope of advanced detailed knowledge

The student is able to:

critically analyse selected methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques, and suggest other areas of their application

formulate and test hypotheses connected with simple research problems in the field of literary studies

use theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts typical of literary studies in debates and discussions with diverse audiences

identify different types of literary works and conduct a critical analysis and interpretation of them in a broad context, using innovative methods

prepare oral presentations in a foreign language on specific topics, using a variety of sources, also in specialist communication

use a foreign language at the level indicated in the course description, also in specialist communication

The student is prepared to:

critically evaluate their knowledge and the received content

recognize the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems and to refer to the opinions of experts

identify priorities in order to fulfil their task in the field of social obligations

to correctly identify and solve professional dilemmas, while respecting the traditions and principles of professional ethics and developing their own professional competence

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

- attendance in class;

- Activity during classes;

- oral credit on the basis of the issues covered in class.

93 - 98% - 5 (very good)

87 - 92% - 4,5 (good plus)

77 - 86% - 4 (good)

71 - 76% - 3,5 (sufficient plus)

60 - 70% - 3 (sufficient)

Less than 60% - 2.0 (fail)

2 absences from classes are allowed.
