The aim of the class is to familiarize participants with practical issues related to language didactics and, in particular, the role of creativity of both the student and the teacher in creating effective teaching activities. |
Full description: |
During the course, students will learn various strategies and techniques for teaching foreign languages that stimulate students' creativity and critical thinking. Criteria for the selection and creation of teaching materials conducive to the development of various language skills and enhancement of learners' communicative competence will be discussed. Universal strategies used in the teaching of various foreign languages will be presented, as well as their modifications to adapt teaching techniques to language specifics (inflected, non-flexed, transparent and non-transparent languages). Student workload: Contact hours (in the room) - 30 hours - 1 ECTS preparation for classes - 30 hours - 1 ECTS Total: 60 hours - 2 ECTS |

Learning outcomes: |
Students are able to: - independently evaluate the potential of various language exercises for their effectiveness in enhancing language communication; - independently construct tasks that develop the student's creativity; - independently create tasks that develop critical thinking; - make modifications to "textbook" tasks so that they better activate students and develop their various language skills. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Course credit conditions : - attendance in class; - control of current preparation; - credit for group and individual projects. Evaluation criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds (points conversion): 99-100% - 5 !(very good grade with an exclamation mark) 93- 98% - 5 (very good grade) 87-92% - 4+ (good plus grade) 77-86% - 4 (good grade) 70-76% - 3+ (rating of sufficient plus) 60-69% - 3 (sufficient grade) A student is entitled to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent absence requires submission of an excuse. The student's attendance in class is confirmed by a signature on the list. If it is not possible to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using distance communication tools, most likely ZOOM, CLASSROOM and others recommended by the University of Warsaw. |
