Short description: |
The aim is the students acquire English language skills at the level that enables the communication in tourism branch to acquire language skills at B1+/B2 level. |
Full description: |
Students become familiar with the terminology of tourism including cultural aspects thereof to be able to communicate in speaking and writing in situations typical for tourism branch, to acquire language skills at B1+/B2 level. The content of the study: a student gets acquainted with the following lexis domains: cultural differences, package holidays, showing directions, travel from and to the airport, international travel, security and procedures at the airport. Student workload (1 ECTS): 30 hours Assisted work – 2 hours a week x 7 and 1 hour x 1 week = 15 hours Self-study – 7 hours-preparation for classes, 8 hours- preparation for pass Didactic methods: B1-B2: communicative approach including the following techniques: imitation, synonym-antonym, filling in the gaps, drills, Polish equivalent, mini drama, transformation, definitions, paraphrasing, interview If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes shall be held with the aid of distance learning tool: Zoom. |

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Requirements to be met to be given a pass (for the first and second attempt) and be able to take the final written test (in the first and second attempt), grading elements: - the final written test, with evaluation criteria expressed in the form of percentage values: 60% – 68% - 3 69% - 77% - 3+ 78% - 86% - 4 87% - 95% - 4+ 96% - 98 % - 5 99% -100% - 5 ! The condition to be able to take the final written test is the presence during in-class classes. A student is entitled to 1 unexcused absence. A lecturer decides on the manner of catching up with the material discussed during the classes a student has not attended. |
