  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Prerequisites (description):

The student must systematically complete the subsequent stages of language teaching.The student must be able to speak Ukrainian fluently, so that after second term he speaks at C2.Knowing Ukrainian at least at level C1.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to develop language competences in the field of Ukrainian language at the C2 level according to CEFR: writing, speaking (flawless communication of content, expressing one's opinion, communicating in diverse and complex social situations), perfect understanding of written and spoken texts.

Full description:

hPractical exercises (15 class weeks per semester, 90 hours), culminating in a written examination.

The content of teaching is subordinated to the assumption of opening to cognitive and communication needs of students and their intentions related to the qualifications necessary to perform a future profession or functioning in the country whose language they study, as well as preparing graduates for the needs of the labor market.

Knowledge of the rules of grammar provides for: the ability to construct grammatically and stylistically correct oral and written statements; the ability to acquire grammatical rules systematically and intensively; attention to the culture of language and the grammatical correctness of one's own statements. The development of linguistic skills (in particular communicative competence) at an advanced level and the consolidation and improvement of skills acquired in the second level, with the emphasis on extending and producing complex oral and written texts; acquiring a broad knowledge of extended thematic, lexical and stylistic areas; systematising the acquired knowledge.

Student workload:

About 210 hours

organized hours - 6 hours per week x 1 semester = 90 hours contact

student's independent work (current preparation for classes, partial work) - 60 about hours preparation for the exam - 60 hours

If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes

shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw

Learning outcomes:

Upon completion of the course the student:

1. knows

- in-depth knowledge of key issues connected with the development of contemporary Ukrainian language, including psychological basis of its functioning (K2_W04)

- in-depth knowledge of translation techniques (K2_W05)

- Is proficient in spoken and written Ukrainian in accordance with requirements specified for a level close to C2 (K2_W08)

2. is able to

- is able to communicate and debate on a wide range of topics, including specialised topics, in class (K2_U07, K2_08)

- Is able to communicate orally and in writing in the Ukrainian language according to the requirements of level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRS) (K2_U09)

Student is ready to critically evaluate his/her knowledge and received content (K2 _K01)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Credit conditions for the subject and admission to the final exam:

- continuous, shaping evaluation (control of current preparation)

- completion of mid-term work

- passing final examination.

Final mark contains 30% of work and 70% exam.

Criteria for the assessment of the final written exam

60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory)

69% - 77% - 3+ (rated satisfactory plus)

78% - 86% - 4 (good)

86% - 91% - 4+ (good plus)

92% - 97% - 5 (very good)

98% -100% - 5! (very good with an exclamation mark)

The condition for admission to the final exam is also attendance.

Student can sit an exam for the second time in second session. The exam has the same form and condition as during first time.

The student has the right to 2 absences for each 30 h. If there are more than 2, including the justified, the student should ask the lecturer to determine the form of credit for the course material.

Exceeding missed and unjusted absences by 50% of classes is the basis for failure to credit the subject.
