ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

During the course, the student masters the Russian language in order to be able to freely and correctly communicate on selected topics and develop language skills at the C1 level according to CEFR.

Full description:

The aim of the course is to broaden the communication competencies of students at an advanced level. During the course, the student will learn to write and speak clearly on a wide range of topics, broadening their knowledge regarding the issues in question. The student will take part in discussions and learn to explain their position on the matters being discussed, considering the pros and cons of different ideas. The student will enhance their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and acquire practical knowledge in the fields of Russian vocabulary, grammar and phonetics. The materials for the course are prepared based on the communicative method and include content related to the country, life there, and culture.

The student's workload:

contact hours (in class) – 30 hours.

preparing for classes – 15 hours

preparation for exam – 15 hours

Total: 60 hours – 2 ECTS

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, the student will:

- know and understand Russian both spoken and written in accordance with the requirements set for the C1 level of the CEFR (K2_W11)

- be able to debate specialised topics (K2_U08)

- be able to plan and implement their own lifelong learning (K2_U11)

- be able to communicate via speaking and writing in Russian in accordance with the requirements set for the C1 level of the CEFR (K2_U14)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Requirements for getting a credit for the subject in order to sit the final written exam:

- attendance

- being prepared for classes

- written tests

- written assignment

Criteria for assessing tests and the exam (percentage thresholds):

99-100% - 5!

93-98% - 5

87-92% - 4+

77-86% - 4

70-76% - 3+

60-69% - 3

The final grade consists of: a mark for the work done during the semester (30%) and the final written exam grade (70%).

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, and each subsequent one requires an explanation to be given. The teacher decides how the student will make up for any other unjustified absences.

The student has the right to obtain the credit for the class and retake the exam during the resits on the same terms as in the first attempt.
