Prerequisites (description): | The aim of the course is to introduce students of several faculties into the problematics of archetypes including definitions of the term as formulated by different researches; typology and classification of archetypes in our culture; selected examples in literature and arts. |

During our classes we are going to discuss the following topics: - Usage of archetypes in literary works. An Introduction - Jungian archetypes - Carol Pearson's and Margaret Mark's categories of archetypes - Margaret Hartwell's and Joshua Chen's archetypes' families - Examples of archetypes in contemporary literature. |

Learning outcomes: |
Students are able to give some examples on archetypes in literary works and to use the methods of comparative studies; - They know the main theoretical works in the field of aesthetics, philosophy and the history of literature. - They can analyze literary works. - They are able to recognize stereotypes and archetypes in literary works. - They are able to present their point of view and to discuss it in a group of students. |
