Full description: |
Truly alive, original and modern theatre has always been theatre involved and committed. It is nowadays modern playwrights and theatre directors who try to recon with national myths, provoke discussion on still unprocessed problem of Nazism, criticise narrow-mindedness and conformism, defy the established conventions, oppose against aesthetic norms and break down taboos, often outside the bounds of good taste. Subject areas to be discussed: · Young, angry and different. On new generation of playwrights and theatre directors; · New topics and trends: climate change, migration crisis, armed conflicts, marginalisation, criticism of neoliberalism, etc. · Recycling of problems, motifs and characters – quasi-palimpsest; · Feminist discourse in modern theatre; · Mythology: re-interpretation. How we read and stage myths today; · Classics re-invented. On new interpretations of European canon; · Is there such thing as ‘national theatre’? |
