Short description: |
Male and female authors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland tell about themselves, their times and experiences. The selected texts belong to different periods, though predominantly to the 20th century, and represent various genres of narrative prose – starting with a chapter from the „classical” autobiography of Goethe, after which attention will be devoted to various stories (novellas) and novels based on autobiographical motives. Kafka’s „authentic” (though very literary!) „Letter to my father” will also be considered. The classes will be given in Polish, all readings will be available in (Polish) translations. Question: does reading these autobiographical texts learn us who their authors „really” („truly”) were, how their world „really” looked like? |
