Prerequisites (description):

Five blocks of increasing complexity and difficulty. Starting point - three questions to ask the text: Who speaks? About what? What means, when composing them? (Qui parle? De quoi? Comment?) Then: how do they interact to form a message. The above refers to the text as a statement. The final stage of the analysis will be filled with an attempt to confront the content of the statement (énoncé) with its context (situation d’énonciation). The search for new meanings - also as a result of confrontation with other texts (intertextes) - will be the last stage of the work.

Full description:

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with various methods of literary analysis and showing the importance of theoretical reflection on literary phenomena. Courses will thus have practical character: a / reading and analysis of literary texts (poetry and short fragments of narrative and dramatic works) and various types of discourses (eg preface); b / on each course a separate issue or set of issues will be discussed (eg composition, argumentation, metaphor, alliteration, focalization, description, introduction writing, etc.); c / during the semester Students will also have the opportunity to prepare many micro-analyzes as well as work in groups over given texts (short stories), over which they will be able to work throughout the semester. The discussion around these texts at the end of the semester will be a form of balance of acquired skills and one of the forms of exam.
