The aim of the course is to get acquainted with selected aspects of Catalan culture.

1. Landscapes of Catalonia. Geography and administration.

2. History.

3. Catalan language.

4. Literature: from Ramon Llull (XIV century) to Jaume Cabré (XXI century)

5. Fine arts. Architecture, sculpture, painting.

6. Catalan cinema. From "Pelea en un café" (1897) to the 21st century.

7. Music: history, rhythms and instruments. Gralla, tamborí, sac de gemecs ...

From classical music to Punk-rock through folk.

8. Dance in Catalan. Sardana, Ball de bastons ...

9. Catalan Mythology and Magic. Legends.

10. Customs and traditional life.

11. Fiestas in Catalonia: Christmas, Easter, Sant Jordi, Castanyada ...

KNOWLEDGE:

K_W02: knows the basic terminology of the humanities (in particular linguistics, cultural studies, literature studies, philosophy and history)

K_W03: knows the elementary terminology used in the description of language, literature, culture, history, philosophy, understands its sources and applications

SKILLS:
