Short description:	The purpose of the course is to present the culture and society of contemporary Italy, including a number of topics regarding such fields as politics, media and popular culture.
Full description:	The course is dedicated to the cultural and socio-political reality of contemporary Italy. During the course many aspects regarding Italian society will be discussed, e.g. the differences between regions and the linguistic (dialectal) specificity of Italy; further on, the lessons will focus on a number of topics, such as politics and its influence on society, mass media (press and television) and various forms of popular culture (noir literature, comics, popular music etc.). The various topics and issues are all accompanied by an important recurring element: i.e., the social and cultural changes that have occurred in Italy over the past decades.

Learning outcomes:	(in Polish) Wiedza: absolwent zna i rozumie: - w podstawowym stopniu powiązania filologii włoskiej z innymi dyscyplinami nauk humanistycznych, w tym przede wszystkim nauki o sztuce, nauki o kulturze i religii. Umiejętności: absolwent potrafi: - rozpoznawać różne rodzaje tekstów, umiejscowić je w ogólnym kontekście historyczno-kulturowym oraz przeprowadzić ich analizę z użyciem podstawowej terminologii i właściwych metod; - samodzielnie zdobywać wiedzę i rozwijać umiejętności z wykorzystaniem odpowiednich źródeł (słowników, leksykonów, encyklopedii, tekstów źródłowych, opracowań monograficznych, itp.). Kompetencje społeczne: absolwent jest gotów do: - udziału w życiu kulturalnym, wypełniania zobowiązań społecznych.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	(in Polish) Na ocenę z kursu składają się: - obecność i aktywność podczas zajęć – 25% - realizacja zadań i projektów - 25% - ocena z testu końcowego obejmującego zagadnienia zrealizowane w ramach kursu – 50%.
