Short description: |
The lectures within the subject of "Applied criminology" offer broadening the knowledge of issues falling within the area of interest of criminology, but also related sciences, such as victimology, sociology, forensic psychology or criminal law. Course participants have the opportunity to listen to speeches presented by theoreticians and practitioners representing the above-mentioned fields. Each lecture deals with a different research problem - important and interesting for criminology as an interdisciplinary science. |

Lectures within the subject of "Applied criminology" offer broadening the knowledge of issues falling within the field of criminology interests, but also related sciences, such as victimology, sociology, forensic psychology or criminal law. Due to the above, the organization of the course assumes the participation of many lecturers who present speeches on specific issues - both in theoretical and practical aspects, taking into account the topicality of a given problem in the changing social reality and the importance of the issue for the interests of criminology itself. Therefore, course participants have a unique opportunity to broaden their knowledge with regard to research issues and research problems relevant to criminology. At the same time - due to the participation of many lecturers representing various scientific disciplines, students have a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of criminology itself as a scientific discipline and its research approach. Student’s workload: - hours including classroom activities: 18 h - text and statistical data analysis – 42 h - studying for an exam – 40 h Total: 100 h |

Due to the specificity of the course and its organization, which involves the participation of many lecturers representing various scientific disciplines and changing topics of lectures, course participants will receive, after each meeting, tips on the literature on the subject and a short study prepared by the author of a given speech. |
Learning outcomes: |
Learning outcomes (do 4000 znaków) Upon completing this course a student in terms of knowledge: understands the importance of the interdisciplinary approach in the context of contemporary trends and directions in the development of criminology in terms of skills: can properly use theoretical concepts in the interpretation of criminological situations can analyze source texts as well as analyze and comment on social phenomena related to crime in an interdisciplinary perspective is able to use and integrate knowledge in the field of criminology, law and other disciplines for substantive assessment of complex social phenomena, including legal and criminological problems in terms of social competences: is ready to apply an interdisciplinary approach in research and solving social problems is ready to apply a systemic and interdisciplinary approach in the aspect of criminologically diverse determinants of criminal behavior and other criminal phenomena |
