Short description:

The seminar will be devoted to the reconstruction of Twardowski's philosophical program and the resonance of his views in the analytical tradition.

Full description:

Kazimierz Twardowski is the founder of the Lvov-Warsaw School - an intellectual formation rightly regarded as the Polish branch of analytical philosophy. Twardowski's importance to the School cannot be overestimated. Thanks to his persevering didactic work, he brought up several dozen eminent scholars, teaching them mainly in the scientific method. He did not impose his beliefs on his students, and yet traces of his views can be found in the works of all his students.

The significance of Twardowski, however, is not limited to his influence on Polish philosophy. He played a significant role in the analytical tradition as such: he directly influenced Central European philosophers and indirectly the Anglo-Saxon tradition. Many of Twardowski's views remain valid to this day, and his interdisciplinary philosophical program is nowadays reviving under various signs.

The seminar will be devoted to the reconstruction of Twardowski's philosophical program and the resonance of his views in the analytical tradition.
